This comes clear, especially when analyzing Candy’s role, because her character alternates between the fine-line of the two sites of the tragedy, depending if you judge her as a ‘winner’ or as a ‘loser’ at the end of the story.
One hint that shows that Harmony Korine sees her as a winner is her gray zip hoodie from sports fashion label Champion.
The little but remarkable black brand logo can be spotted quite clearly on one of the promotion pictures, which looks like a subtle statement by the movie director that the viewer should judge Vanessa Hudgens’ role as a champion.

Authentic Athlete Apparel might be just another cynical comment – like Alien’s sport jacket – on the final showdown of the movie and Candy’s actual doom.

Of course, it’s not clear if Harmony Korine and costume designer Heidi Bivens had all these associations in mind when choosing this grey men’s hoodie from the fashion brand Champion for Candy.
However, it looks like a bold theory and reasonable assumption.
